ReConnecting

Perhaps because of the holidays, i have reconnected with several friends who i have not seen in months (for some, years). One realization as a result is that not only time but relationships are precious.
I have three friends whose relationships with their respective mothers have all been severely damaged- two as the result of death and one as the result of estrangement. i am a firm believer in the principle that one relationship affects others, but the case could not be more true than with one's mother. as an unpleasant result of the times in which we live, i have seen many people grow up apparently healthy without a father, but i can count on one hand the number of people who grew up healthy without a good relationship with his or her mother. Again, as i get older, i am more convinced than ever that one's self-image is greatly impacted by his or her relationship with his or her mother and that the love that he or she gives to the world is very much a reflection of the love that was received from his or her mother.
the Apostle Paul wrote that now abide these three faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love. i now write, now abide these three relationships with GOD, family and friends, and the greatest of these is GOD.
Consider how much you miss the relationship with your extended family during this holiday season, then how much you might miss friends from bygone days. Now consider the fact that God misses you in ways that cannot be calculated.
GOD wants to see you and hear from you this holiday season. Your Father misses you.
